
Open debate at the Faculty of Medicine: Hate Speech, Disinformation and Mental Health – Consequences and Challenges for the Society
The Student Parliament organized an open debate on the theme: Hate Speech, disinformation and Mental Health-Consequences and Challenges for Society’’, wherein sensitive and important topics related to public health and ethics in communication were addressed.
In this activity were present and discussed:
-Prof.Dr. Haxhi Kamberi, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine
-Prof. Asoc. Dr. Kimete Canaj
-Prof. Asoc. Dr. Artan Nimani
-Prof. Ass.Dr. Faton Krasniqi
The participants addressed themes related to offensive, lynching, and deceptive language, highlighting the consequences they bring in the individual and collective life- especially in the aspect of mental health. The discussion was enriched with statistical data, concrete cases of study and experiences from the professional practice.
In the debate participated also students of the University of Medicine of Sofja, in regards to the Erasmus+ program, which contributed with questions and comments, making the activity quite intercultural and interinstitutional.
This debate marks an important step towards raising awareness about the impact of speech on psychological and social well-being, and highlights the role that health professionals have in promoting ethical and responsible communication.
