Today, on December 9, 2024, in a solemn ceremony, the foundation stone was laid for the University Campus of “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova, beginning with the construction of the Faculty of Medicine. This ceremonial act marks a project that represents a significant step forward in the further development of higher education in our country and the region.

Distinguished personalities from the fields of education, academia, and the legislative and executive branches of government participated in marking this important day.

The ceremony opened with a welcoming speech, which emphasized the importance of this investment in advancing academic infrastructure and creating new opportunities for students.

The Minister of Education, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Ms. Arbërie Nagavci, emphasized that this Campus is a clear example of the institutions’ commitment to strengthening the education system in the country. Furthermore, the Minister added that MESTI has been and will continue to be a strong supporter of projects that have a direct impact on the quality of education and on producing future professionals who will serve the labor market both domestically and abroad.

The Rector of “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Drilon Bunjaku, in his speech, highlighted the historical importance of this day. He expressed his gratitude for the support of the government and all parties involved in the realization of this major project, adding that laying this foundation stone is an expression of the will to offer high academic standards and an environment where future experts and leaders can be developed.

Rector Bunjaku emphasized that he will continue to be fully committed to the further development of the institution, with his dedication focused on the implementation of the University’s strategic plan and the fulfillment of its mission and vision.

The construction of the Campus is expected to contribute to the improvement of education quality and the further development of “Fehmi Agani” University in Gjakova as a center of academic excellence in the Dukagjini region, with programs directly aligned with the needs of the labor market.
