On 24.12.2024, at the amphitheatre of the Faculty of Medicine, was held the promotion of the university book ‘’DIABET MELIT TYPE 2, PREVENTION AND TREATMENT THROUGH NURSING CARE’’, of authors Prof. Asoc. Dr. Antigona Ukëhaxhaj and Prof. Asoc. Dr. Faton Hoxha.

In this promotion present were also the reviewers of the book Prof. Dr. Ramush Bejiqi, and Prof.Asoc. Dr. Venera Berisha-Muharremi, experts of the field of medicine from the Gjakova Health Institutions, colleagues from other academic units, the staff of the Faculty of Medicine and the students.

First, the word of speech was given to the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof.Dr. Haxhi Kamberi, who emphasized that the book is dedicated to the clinician colleagues, students, who believed that it would serve them in practice during their performing of the profession at the patients with Diabet type 2, therefore, its weight and importance is valuable and with a manifold significance. He also mentioned the achievements of the Professors of this Faculty in many fields, projects and practical work, achievements which are fulfilling the mission of the Faculty of Medicine regarding the extension of the fields of study, increase of the academic integrity and quality increase in teaching and learning with students. Afterwards, regarding the book spoke also its reviewers who esteemed highly the work and the authors’ work and commitment, a book which according to them, will facilitate the students and clinicians’ work during the treatment of the patients with Diabet Melit type 2. They suggested that through this book it was completed the long-living gap even for the health professionals, since it has included the latest international literature, as well as the latest guidelines and protocols approved by the Ministry of Health, which a part of the professionals in the three levels are not yet familiarized with as much as it is necessary.

On behalf of the book authors, a word of speech was also given to the Prof. Asoc. Dr. Faton Hoxha, who in a chronological way showed the journey of the Faculty team, through international collaboration, the idea of the formation of the Diabetic Foot Unit in the Faculty of Medicine and the course which is now being held for years with nursing students, therefore, according to him, this book is in accordance with the course Syllabus, and students will have it easier to access learning and information sources on the Diabet Melit type 2 disease.

He thanked all the co-authors, colleagues who through their expertise added the scientific and professional weight of this book, in particular, the precious contribution of Prof.Asoc. Dardan Koçinaj, who was part of the team and ideated the foundation of the diabetic foot unit.

Likewise, even Prof.Asoc. Dr. Antigona Ukëhaxhaj discusses in relation to the challenges regarding the preparation of this book, thanked the colleagues for the offered contribution as well as her family for the help and understanding shown during this period of time.

In the end, health experts evaluated highly the book, and emphasized her help in the clinical work.
