The Support Center for Academic Development and Training organized the first training session on contemporary teaching and scientific research methods
On 14 July 2026, a one-day training titled "Contemporary Methods in Teaching and Research" was held in the Amphitheatre Hall of the Faculty of Medicine. The event was organized by the Support Centre for Academic Development and Training.
This event marked the first training organized by the Centre and represents an important step toward the continuous enhancement of teaching quality, the professional development of academic staff, and the strengthening of research capacities at the University.
The training was opened with welcoming remarks by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Haxhi Kamberi, who emphasized the importance of organizing such activities to advance academic standards and ensure the continuous updating of the knowledge and teaching practices of university staff.
Following the opening remarks, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Kimete Canaj presented the Support Centre for Academic Development and Training, outlining its mission, vision, and objectives. She highlighted that the Centre aims to establish a sustainable platform for academic and professional development, the exchange of experiences, the promotion of best practices, and the organization of training activities tailored to the needs of academic and research staff.
The training was led by Prof. Dr. Assoc. Majlinda Keta, Professor at the University of Tirana, who delivered a lecture entitled "The Didactics of Academic Education and Research in Medical Sciences." Her presentation focused on contemporary teaching approaches and methodologies, the importance of placing students at the centre of the learning process, the use of interactive teaching methods, and the development of critical thinking. She also addressed the topic "From the Hippocratic Oath to Artificial Intelligence: Didactics as Ethics, Science, and Academic Responsibility."
A dedicated part of the training focused on scientific research, including the formulation of research questions, the use of academic sources, the organization of the research process, and the integration of teaching with scientific research.
Throughout the event, participants engaged in professional discussions and exchanged experiences, creating valuable opportunities to reflect on current challenges in higher education and explore ways to further improve the teaching and learning process.
The main objectives of the training were to update participants' knowledge of contemporary teaching practices, strengthen their research and scientific skills, enhance their professional capacities, and encourage greater academic collaboration.
