Prof. Kimete Canaj and Prof. Artan Nimani held a lecture at UAMD within the framework of the "Hate Speech: Democracy and Youth" Project from February 4 to 6, 2026.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kimete Canaj and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Artan Nimani, in collaboration with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Renata Tokrri and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eva Teqja, and Prof. Dr. Sokol Pacukaj, delivered lectures and participated in a workshop organized at the premises of Universiteti “Aleksandër Moisiu” Durrës as part of the project “Hate Speech: Democracy and Youth.” An open discussion with UAMD students was also held.

Workshop discussion points:

Presentation and analysis of the questionnaire on hate speech and forms of intolerance.

Discussions on the research methodology and the importance of student involvement in the process.

The role of universities in media literacy education.

Within the framework of the project, a consultative meeting was organized with students of Universiteti “Aleksandër Moisiu” Durrës (UAMD), where the questionnaire designed for research on hate speech and forms of intolerance online was presented and discussed.

Students provided comments and suggestions regarding the clarity of the questions, the relevance of the topics, and the reporting of cases.
The discussion served to improve the measurement instrument, making it more suitable for the university context and for youth engagement.
The importance of active student participation as contributors to the monitoring and awareness-raising process was emphasized.

During the workshop, the initial results of media and social network monitoring were presented. These results will be published in scientific papers indexed in SCOPUS. They demonstrate the spread of hate speech online and provide examples of effective counter-narratives that promote tolerance and respect.

This activity strengthens the commitment of UAMD and UFAGJ to creating an inclusive academic environment by empowering students and professors as active actors in the fight against defamation, bullying, racism, xenophobia, and discrimination. The implementation of this project was made possible with the support of MASHT and AKKSH.

The project aims to combat hate speech online through awareness-raising and education of university students and young people in general. It seeks to prevent the spread of racism, xenophobia, and other forms of intolerance by equipping young people with the necessary competencies to recognize and oppose human rights violations.
