Public Health students carry out practical and humanitarian activities at the "Konaku" Nursing Home
As part of the module “Health of the Elderly Population,” second-year students of the Public Health program at the Faculty of Medicine, under the guidance of Ass. Arta Dalipi Shabani, carried out another important practical activity at the “Konaku” Elderly Home. This activity was characterized by the students’ direct engagement with the residents of the institution, creating a warm, humane, and professional interaction that goes beyond theoretical learning and strengthens practical competencies in elderly care.
The purpose of the activity was the practical application of knowledge related to elderly care, the promotion of the residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being, as well as strengthening interpersonal connections and empathy among students.
Activities carried out included:
Planting flowers together with the residents, as a collaborative activity that encouraged a sense of belonging and care for the environment;
A shared walk in nature, promoting physical activity and open communication;
Conversations and emotional support, creating space for sharing experiences and positive feelings.
Through this activity, students had the opportunity to develop practical and communication skills while building a more sensitive and professional approach toward the needs of the elderly population. The activity demonstrated the importance of active student involvement in the community and the positive impact that such interaction brings both to the students and to the residents of the institution.
