Prof. Dr. Antigona Ukëhaxhaj presents research at the International Conference on Public Health and the Environment

At the invitation of the Academy of Sciences of Albania, Prof. Dr. Antigona Ukëhaxhaj participated in the Fourth Conference on Public Health and the Environment.

The conference was organized by the Academy of Sciences of Albania in collaboration with George Mason University (USA) and the Ramazzini College (Italy).

Over the course of the two-day conference, more than 100 researchers from Albania, the United States, Italy, and BOKU University in Vienna addressed key public health topics, including air and water quality and food safety. Prof. Dr. Antigona Ukëhaxhaj presented her research entitled: "Advanced Spline-Based Time-Series Modeling of Daily PM2.5 in Prishtina, Kosovo: Assessing Seasonal Dynamics, Temporal Persistence and Extreme Pollution Episodes."

Today, more than ever, public health and the environment are two urgent issues that are closely interconnected. They share a common denominator: the knowledge, assessment, monitoring, and management of natural resources, as well as their sustainable use in protecting public health.

The conference highlighted an important reality: environmentally harmful or destructive actions have consequences that often emerge where they are least expected, with visible or invisible effects that sooner or later impact our quality of life, our health and well-being, and the future of our country.
