Community service – Working with Diabetic Foot patients

Today at the Faculty of Medicine under the mentorship of Prof. Faton Hoxha and Dean of the Faculty Prof. Antigona Ukëhaxhaj, the students have started working in the diabetic foot unit for individuals within the SMAHPC project.

The 3rd year Nursing students have performed the services and physical and neurological examination (with Sensore-Semmes-Weinstein Monofilament) of the feet of individuals with Diabetes Mellitus.

Student client services will be offered every Friday at the Faculty of Medicine facility.

In the diabetic foot unit, the following services are planned:

-Visits of individuals with diabetes;

-Controlling and measuring body weight;

- Measurement of glycemia;

-Insulin administration;

-BMI;

-Neurological Examination of the Foot;

-Cleaning the diabetic foot;

- HbA1C analysis;

-Education of the patient and family members on diabetes.

 Each service will be provided free of charge by the students of the Faculty of Medicine, who will contribute to the community.
